Advocate Salma Ali, ED, BNWLA Preventing trafficking does not mean restricting freedom of movement however, says executive director of BNWLA Advocate Salma Ali. “Migration is a right and safe migration must be ensured.”There is a fine line between labour migration and human trafficking, which makes it all the more confusing. Knowing who is migrating legally and who is being taken by force can be difficult. With the traffickers having accomplices everywhere from travel agencies and passport offices to the law-enforcing agencies as well as brothels here and across the border, the process is made to seem almost foolproof. But lines must be drawn and crimes must be identified and prosecuted for what they are.
