On 08.04.04, the victim Shilpi, niece of Nur Hossain, wedded Liton, the accused, in an arranged marriage. Liton gave a proposal to Shilpi to take her to India but Shilpi refused his proposal. Liton convinced her by saying that other girls were going to India for employment. Shilpi agreed and informed Nur Hossain about the matter. Nur Hossain discovered after investigation that there were 3 more people with Liton and one other girl who was interested to go to India. After asking the girl , Nur Hossain found out that there were two more girls, from Jessore and Jhinidaho, at the Benapole Checkpost to go to India. They had also been recruited with the allurement of well-paid jobs. Nur Hossain rescued the victims with the help of the local inhabitants and also filed a case against the accused.

BNWLA provided legal support to the complainant. The charge-sheet was submitted in the Court on 3.6.04 under Sec. 5 (1) of Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000. Then the case went to trial. Consequently, the Honorable judges gave a verdict against the opposite party. The accused were convicted and given sentence to suffer life imprisonment and fined for Tk 20,000 (twenty thousand) each. Or in default of the fine, they had to suffer 2 years of further imprisonment.
